Smartwebs Content Management

Trouble Logging Into Smartwebs?

In order to use the Smartweb Content Management System, first you must be using a PC with Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or above.

If you attempt to login to Smartwebs and nothing appears to happen, you may have pop-up blocking activated. While a pop-up blocking is very helpful in eliminating annoying pop-up advertisements it can sometimes cause important pages, like Smartwebs, not to display.

The Smartwebs application launches itself into a new window, which some pop-up blockers mistakenly flag as a malicious pop-up. In order to successfully login to Smartwebs, you will have to either disable your blocker software or add "www.smartwebs.com" to the list of sites your software will allow pop-ups to originate from.

Below are instructions on how to effectively configure pop-up blockers to allow the Smartwebs application to run.

Disabling the pop-up blocker in Internet Explorer

The Internet Explorer pop-up blocker is enabled by default. If you need to disable your IE pop-up blocker, follow these steps:

  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. From the top menu, click "Tools > Pop-Up Blocker".
  3. Click on "Turn Off Pop-Up Blocker."

Allowing certain websites to open with pop-up blocker activated in Internet Explorer If you want to allow pop-ups for certain websites without completely disabling the pop-up blocker, follow these steps:
  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. From the top menu, click "Tools > Pop-Up Blocker Setting".

  3. Enter the complete web address of the site on which you want (www.smartwebs.com) to allow pop-ups and click on the "Add" button.

  4. The web address (www.smartwebs.com) now appears in the list of Allowed Sites. Click on the "Close" button.

Google Toolbar Pop-up Blocker

If you are using Internet Explorer with the Google Toolbar, your Google Toolbar may have the pop-up blocker activated. If the toolbar lists "# blocked" (e.g., '0 blocked' in the picture below), your pop-up blocker is activated and you will have to enable pop-ups before you login to the Smartwebs application.

To allow for the Smartwebs application to run, click on the "# blocked" button (e.g., '0 blocked' in the picture above). The button will turn into "Popups okay" (pictured below) and allow for the Smartwebs application to open.

Yahoo Toolbar Pop-up Blocker

If you are using Internet Explorer with the Yahoo Toolbar, your Yahoo Toolbar may have the pop-up blocker activated. If the toolbar lists a button with two blue window icons (pictured below), your pop-up blocker is activated and you will have to enable pop-ups before you login to the Smartwebs application.

To allow for the Smartwebs application to run, click on the two blue window icons button (pictured above). The button will turn into a blue gold window icon (pictured below) with a small shield and allow for the Smartwebs application to open.
